Central Vermont Humane Society

Hello everyone!

I wanted to update you on my new, wonderful, loving, silly and playful new roommate who I have fallen head over heels in love with….you know him as Frazier.  His name has been changed to Hesston….full name being:  Sir Hesston Yates.

Hesston has just started to really settle in and is getting very playful.  He still has serious separation anxiety, but I feel in time he will realize that I am always coming back. I am fortunate that we are able to be together 24/7, but he does NOT like it when I leave him in the car to go in the store….he howls, barks, rearranges things in the car, moves the rear view mirror and smears the windows up with his wet nose (lots of cleaning the windows going on lately!)  :-)

I do believe that Hesston has some Greyhound in him. Since both that breed and the Pointer have very muscular legs and when you see Hesston running in the field by our house you can see him smiling from flapping ear to flapping ear!  That and the fact that when we visited to vets for his wellness check, they stated that Hesston had a nice slow heart rate, which is a characteristic of Greyhounds.  And he has quite the jumping ability….he jumped over a 3′ doggie gate from a standing position and didn’t nick a toe nail!

He barks when people come to the house and sound vicious (goooood boy!), but the minute they come in he is all wiggly and kissing them…too funny.  I think at one point in time he might have been abused because of some behaviors he has exhibited with me lifting my arm quickly which in turn caused him to cower.  He is also very skittish around loud vehicles, but will jump up in the back of a pick up truck like it’s nothing!

I’ve attached a few pics and will send more in the future if you don’t mind.

Peace and Goodness ~ Hesston’s mom (Jude)

P.S.  He LOVES slow roasted chicken breast cut into little strips…..best thing for recall training!
