Sometimes the right pet isn’t at our Adoption Center at the moment you visit. We encourage you to fill out an Adopter Information Form and speak with an Adoption Counselor to let us know what you’re looking for. We’ll keep your information on file and contact you when we think we have the right match for your family.
You may also choose to check out other animal welfare organizations. We’ve listed a few Vermont organizations below to get you started. Please understand that Central Vermont Humane Society is a private organization. While we appreciate and work with our neighbors, we cannot speak to their adoption protocols or adoptable animals. Petfinder.com- Search adoptable animals by location, breed, age, size, etc.
Agway/Petsmart/Petco- Check out your local store to see if they host adoptable animals from shelters.
Breed Specific Rescue Groups- These groups specialize in specific breeds. Use an internet search engine such as Google to search “Dalmatian Rescue New England,” etc. There are many groups with animals currently in foster care in Vermont looking for homes.
